New page

This policy explains how '''SideQuest Wiki''' handles information when you read, sign in, or contribute. It applies to this wiki. The SideQuest game and other websites have their own privacy information.

'''Last updated: 5 November 2026.'''

== Accounts and access ==
Wiki accounts are separate from SideQuest game accounts. We store the wiki username, password hash, account settings, and account activity needed to run the wiki. Wiki administrators can manage accounts and permissions.

Account creation is currently handled by administrators. An account does not automatically grant editing permission. Wiki email features, including password reset emails and user-to-user email, are disabled. Contact the SideQuest team for account help.

During private review, reading requires a wiki account. If public reading opens, readers will be able to see article content and its visible contribution history.

== Contributions and uploads ==
Page edits, edit summaries, timestamps, contributor usernames, uploaded files, and file versions can be shown in page histories, contribution lists, and wiki logs. Approved editors' changes appear when saved.

Do not put private information in pages, edit summaries, usernames, or uploads. Removing text from the current page does not remove it from older revisions. Administrators can restrict access to revisions when appropriate, but information may remain in restricted records or backups.

== Cookies and browser storage ==
The wiki uses cookies and browser storage for sign-in, session security, and preferences such as appearance. Some cookies expire with the session; others can last longer, including when you choose to stay signed in.

You can clear or block cookies in your browser. Blocking them may prevent sign-in or stop preferences from being remembered. Sign out when using a shared device.

== Technical records ==
When your browser requests a page or file, technical records can include your IP address, request time, requested address, response status, browser information, and referring page. Error records may include details needed to diagnose a failed request.

These records help us keep the wiki working, investigate errors, and respond to abuse. Access is limited to people who operate or administer the wiki and the services needed to host it and keep backups. We may also use or disclose information when required by law.

The wiki currently has no advertising or third-party analytics integration. It does not connect to your game account or read your walking or health data. If you send information to support, the team also receives what you choose to include in that message.

== How long information is kept ==
Accounts and contribution histories are kept to operate the wiki, maintain attribution, and protect the integrity of articles. They are not automatically erased when you stop using the wiki.

Routine web and error logs rotate daily, with 14 rotated files retained. This is a rotation setting, not a guarantee that every record disappears exactly 14 days after collection. Relevant records may be kept longer to investigate an incident or meet a legal requirement.

Encrypted backups rotate separately. A correction or removal from the live wiki may remain in an older backup until that backup is replaced or removed.

== Contact and requests ==
For privacy questions or a request about your wiki account or personal information, email '''support@playsidequest.com'''. Include your wiki username and enough detail to identify the issue. Do not send your password. We may need to verify that a request comes from the account holder.

Requests to remove personal information are reviewed alongside the need to keep contribution records, maintain the wiki, and meet applicable obligations. Sending a request does not automatically erase page history or existing backups.

== Changes to this policy ==
We will update this page if the wiki's data handling changes. The date above shows the latest policy update.
