When do pet bonuses apply?

What do Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 mean?
They identify the bonus ranges shown in the bonus tables. The listed ranges are at Level 30 before affinity bonuses.
Does +20% Drop Rate add 20 percentage points?
The source gives it as a relative increase: a 10% base chance becomes 12%. See Pet Bonuses and Effects#Relative increases.
Why can my daily steps differ from expedition progress?
