Co-op Expeditions
Co-op expeditions let 2 to 4 players complete an expedition together. Everyone walks at the same time and receives their own rewards. Party rewards are not split between members.
| Party size | 2 to 4 players |
|---|---|
| Start from | Quests → Expeditions → CO-OP |
| Route unlock | Required for every member |
| Progress | Each member's synced walking steps |
Before joining
- Sign in to your SideQuest account and sync your steps.
- Every member must own the chosen route. Forest Trail is free; the other regular routes need a separate one-time purchase from the expedition list or Coin Shop.
- You can belong to one co-op party at a time. Claim any pending co-op reward before joining another run.
You can have a solo expedition running alongside co-op. Expedition Speed can add solo progress, but does not multiply your co-op contribution.
Joining or creating a party
Open Quests → Expeditions, choose a route, and tap CO-OP.
- QUICK JOIN: queue for an open public party on that route. Use LEAVE QUEUE to stop searching. If no party is available, try again later or create one.
- CREATE PARTY: become the host and invite friends. Turn on PUBLIC PARTY? if you also want players to find the party through Quick Join. Keep it off for an invite-only party.
Use INVITE PLAYER to choose from Recently Played or All Friends. In a public party, members can invite their friends too. Joining the same guild is not required. An invited player must accept and join before they count toward the party size.
Invitations remain open for 24 hours. The host can start once at least 2 players have joined. A full 4-player party starts automatically. Wait for the starting countdown to finish before setting off.
Steps and completion
Current shared-contribution parties have three step markers:
| Marker | Rule |
|---|---|
| Usual share | 60% of the route's solo steps, rounded up. |
| Personal minimum | 80% of the usual share, rounded up. Every member must reach this. |
| Contribution limit | 120% of the usual share, rounded down. Extra steps above this limit do not add to the team total. |
| Team goal | The usual share multiplied by the number of members. |
The party finishes only when every member reaches their personal minimum and the team reaches its goal. Reaching your minimum alone does not finish the run.
Forest Trail example
Forest Trail takes 500 solo steps. Its usual co-op share is 300 steps, personal minimum is 240 steps, and contribution limit is 360 steps.
| Players | Team goal |
|---|---|
| 2 | 600 steps |
| 3 | 900 steps |
| 4 | 1,200 steps |
For two players, 360 + 240 finishes the run. 300 + 240 does not: both players meet the minimum, but the team still needs 60 steps. Extra walking from one player cannot replace another member's minimum.
Steps already credited before the party starts do not carry into that run. Open Home and sync to send new progress. Check the party's markers if its rules differ: older equal-share sessions require every member to complete their full usual share.
Rewards
The party-size bonus applies to coins and XP:
| Players | Coin and XP bonus |
|---|---|
| 2 | +15% |
| 3 | +30% |
| 4 | +50% |
Each member receives their own route reward plus the party bonus. The bonus amount is rounded down. Walking more than another member does not give you a larger reward or improve your drop rolls.
The party-size bonus does not multiply equipment chest, egg, or first-discovery chances. Applicable pet bonuses still affect their usual rewards. Each route page lists its rewards, chest chances, eggs, and discoveries.
Discoveries and material copies
First discoveries use their normal first-find rolls. After finding a material, later claims can give extra copies for crafting.
Before boosts, shared-contribution parties use 48% of the material's base chance for repeat copies. For example, Mushroom has a 38% first-find chance and an 18.24% shared co-op repeat-copy chance. Older equal-share parties use 60% of the base chance for repeat copies.
Drop Rate,
Rare Find Potion, and the guild's Discovery Chalice can improve repeat-copy rolls. Lore scrolls are unique keepsakes and do not give spare crafting copies.
Claiming and playing again
When the party completes, each member uses CLAIM REWARD to collect their own reward. Claim it before starting another co-op run. If a claim cannot finish, reconnect and retry the pending claim from Home.
After a run, use the party's regroup controls to play again. A Ready status lasts up to 24 hours, and the host can start while you are away. Readiness is permission to join the next run. A new run needs at least two ready players; members who are not ready are left out of that start.
Leaving and inactive parties
- Before starting: a member can leave the lobby. If the host abandons it, the lobby closes.
- During the countdown: a departure stops that start and returns the remaining players to the lobby.
- During a run: the departing member's contribution is removed. The game recalculates the team goal and reward bonus for the remaining members. The run continues with at least two members; otherwise it ends. Leaving an unfinished run does not earn its reward, and you cannot rejoin that started run.
- No new progress: an active party expires after 7 days without an increase in team progress. This is not seven days from the invitation or a 24-hour turn limit.
Nudge and vote to kick
Open another player's party actions to use Nudge if they are below their minimum. You can nudge the same player once every 6 hours.
In current shared-contribution parties, Vote to kick is available when:
- At least 3 members remain in the active party.
- The run has been active for at least 24 hours.
- The player starting the vote has reached their own minimum.
- The target player is still below their minimum.
Every other member must agree; the target does not vote. A vote lasts up to 24 hours and is cancelled if the target reaches their minimum or the party roster changes. If it expires, another vote against that player has a 6-hour cooldown. Removal recalculates the party goal and reward bonus, just like leaving.
Two-player parties cannot use a kick vote. They can use Nudge or leave the run.
