Grix is the apothecary. He becomes available in Quests → Story after you find 35 unique discoveries. He brews XP potions from spare discovery materials.

Brewing
Accept The Art of Failure, then choose a recipe in Grix's brewing menu. Your first attempt uses the normal recipe cost and materials. An explosion still counts for the lesson.
Return to Grix after that attempt and claim the quest reward to finish the lesson. You can then keep brewing. Crafting keeps one owned copy of each material; only spare copies can be spent.
