Grix is the apothecary. He becomes available in Quests → Story after you find 35 unique discoveries. He brews XP potions from spare discovery materials.

Brewing

Accept The Art of Failure, then choose a recipe in Grix's brewing menu. Your first attempt uses the normal recipe cost and materials. An explosion still counts for the lesson.

Return to Grix after that attempt and claim the quest reward to finish the lesson. You can then keep brewing. Crafting keeps one owned copy of each material; only spare copies can be spent.

Normal Brew costs 300 coins and three common-or-better material copies. It makes a Weak XP Brew or Standard XP Brew.
Volatile Brew costs 750 coins, two rare-or-better material copies, and one epic-or-better material copy. It can make a Standard XP Brew, a Potent XP Brew, a Masterwork Brew, or explode.
